Don’t Let Advertisements Lure You Away From The Best Weight Loss Product
Collectively, Americans pay over billion a year for pills and bars, packaged meals, powdered shake mixes, supervised weight loss programs and funky devices designed to help us stay on track with all those things we are using in our quest to find the best weight loss product.
Too Much Information
There is no place to hide from the advertising for these products, either. Television, magazines, bus benches, and even, or should we say “especially” the internet are all inundated promotions. In general, advertisers online have a wealth of marketing information available to them and usually try to make sure their ads are seen by interested parties by only running them on related sites.
Weight loss is such a big money industry, however, that those ads show up everywhere. Weight loss and fitness sites would be obvious places to place ads, but they show up on pages about anything from kids shoes (every little kid has a mom somewhere who probably wants to lose the baby weight, right?) to junk foods (who wouldn’t like a magic pill to counteract the calories in the chocolate cake she is finding a recipe for) and health foods (trying to get healthy…losing weight is healthy….)
You get the picture. There’s money to be made and it’s a competitive market with all those products available. Therefore, marketers push hard to make sure it’s their product that gets your share of the weight loss industry’s income.
Sorting Out the Facts
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently cracked down on internet marketing in a way that strongly affects weight loss products. If a marketer uses numbers, such as “Janie lost 157 pounds without exercising by taking XYZ “, or “Joe lost 15% body fat in just six weeks”, they have to be ready to prove the numbers.
Proving customers’ success is difficult; so many marketers are steering away from such tactics, which should make it easier for readers to avoid being drawn in by overstated claims. But “caveat emptor” remains the watchword for shoppers in the weight loss world.
Recommendations on the Best Weight Loss Product
So what is the best weight loss product? It’s a toss up between two. One’s an information product and the other a consumable, but not one you’ll see in any of the ads. It’s completely legal and requires no regulation.
The first product is: a sound nutritional education. No program that weighs you and sends you home with packaged meals will serve you better than educating yourself. Learn all you can about how your body works and recent scientific discoveries on the fundamentals of nutrition and metabolism.
The physical product is: whole organic foods. Hopefully that’s not too much of a letdown. Actually, it should be an inspiration, because you have access to it at any time, it has no ill side effects, and you don’t have to come up with a whole new budget category to be able to afford it.
The best weight loss product is the one that works for you and keeps you healthy.
The reality is that the best thing you can do to lose weight permanently is to take charge by finding a way to educate yourself so you can always stay on track with your weight loss goals.
